...it was a hot day, these figures emerged from the dust and journey of time. I was working outside and had used lots of earth paint for sculptures and had left over colour... i grabbed a piece of loose canvass and painted. this is what came to me in the moment. there was a sense of movement, of performance in its physicality. I love the way shape and form arrive especially when it happens when i am least expecting it.

i love working to ideas...this arose because i heard a lecture about the brain at the Tagore Festival 2011 and apparently when we allow ourselves to feel appreciation awe or wonder the brain responds by lighting up more than for any other feeling. i made a structure for small canvas scrolls of words and snippets of poems and pilled them in and placed it under a tree for others to share a moment of appreciation.

earth cycles is about our interconnection with the environment above in the cathedral of these particular trees… earth circles. tokens of wonder wondering at the inter-leaved quality of our existence I was intrigued when told that plant spirits love to have hand made beads hung on to plants and trees! I love the idea and thought such magnificent large trees in a place full of plants and trees needed some big beads for the whole area…as gratitude at their generosity to us. earth painted circles of our interconnection to earth and trees.
